Mystras
Following a route through wooded Taygetus, starting in Kalamata and going through Sparta and the village of Trypi, we reach Mystras. Along the route, we can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery.
To the north lies the Dimiovis or Timiovas Monastery (800m altitude) which was built during the 8th century. The monastery holds the icon of Panagia Timiovitissa (Holy Mother of Timiovo), which according to tradition bled when hit in the face with an axe.
